Chinese Ambassador to North Macedonia Jiang Xiaoyan Attends the Opening Ceremony of the First Chinese Film Festival in North Macedonia

On October 2, the First Chinese Film Festival in North Macedonia was inaugurated in Skopje, with more than 150 guests present.

In her opening address, Ambassador Jiang briefed the audience on the developments of China's film industry. She noted that people-to-people exchanges between China and North Macedonia have grown increasingly dynamic in recent years, with frequent interactions between film professionals and institutions. Chinese films have been featured and won awards at the Manaki Brothers International Cinematographers' Film Festival, whileas John Vardar vs the Galaxy won the "Golden Silk Road" Award at the 12th Silk Road International Film Festival in China. She believed that the film festival will help the Macedonian audience to gain a true, comprehensive, and well-rounded understanding of China.

The 12-day festival will span five cities. In addition to screenings, director Tian Yan of the documentary “When the Night Meets Light” has been invited to share her thoughts and behind-the scene stories with the Macedonian audience.
